The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is pleased to offer the 2016 Chemistry Academy for Transfer Students, which consists of a five-week program from July 30th
through September 2nd, where students will enroll in
courses as described below. The courses will
provide a strong academic foundation so students can rapidly progress in
their degree program at UC San Diego and graduate sooner. In addition, students will participate in advising and other activities to ensure a smooth transition to UC San Diego.
Application for admission to the Academy will be open on May 2, 2016. Please consult the 2016 Academy calendar for more details. Students are encouraged to complete the application as soon as they decide to join UC San Diego.
All Chemistry Academy students are required to enroll in Physics 2A (Mechanics) and CHEM 140A (Organic Chemistry I) through Summer Session II. The five week program consists of the following courses:
Enrollment in Physics 2A requires the completion of a course equivalent to Math 20B, Calculus for Science and Engineering II. Enrollment in Chem 140A requires the completion of a course equivalent to Chem 6B or Chem 6BH. Please consult http://assist.org for checking whether you will have met the prerequisites by August 1, 2016.
